Our morning topics and agenda

BIG CHANGE - The morning session will now be devoted to Edusoft updates and Tech management.

Our possible topics:

D2L - paperless office (This shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes)

Technology Integration - what does it look like? One thought I had about this was having several computers set up around the room with specific videos ready to play (Edutopia?). Have different groups watch the different videos and have small group instruction. Then in the large group, you could have the small groups report out on what the video was about and how technology enhanced/accelerated the lesson. I would also encourage you to look at the county definition and maybe even see how the video aligned with what the county, iste, etc. says is true technology integration.

This is SUCH a good idea!

Patti says: Here is the website that Carla is pointing the Technology Infusion Cohort to this year: http://www.edutopia.org/techintegration There are excellent videos on this site. Here's one: http://www.edutopia.org/hula-high-tech-video ~Patti

I also think it is important for our teachers to see that you don't have to have all of the tech bundle items (though we had an incredible amount allocated to our school - thank you!) to have a tech rich lesson that effectively uses the technology - it can be used whole group, centers, etc. Don't forget that we also have to rework and present the logistics of our check out system...

Technology standards for students (could be imbedded with the Tech Integration piece)

We could highlight examples of tech integration at Glen Avenue....
  • Laura's 5th grade students took videos of themselves and added them into PowerPoint tutorials. (student tech standards)
  • Elziabeth's students used Skype to talk to friends in South Africa. They wrote their epal letters on Palms. (social studies and writing standards

Managing our technology equipment (How much time do you think this will take?) Maybe 10-15 minutes?

What equipment do we have at Glen? We need an inventory so teachers know what we have available.
Where should it be located?
Who will manage and be responsible for it?
